There is a great book called ‘You Squared,’ which starts out talking about the struggle a fly is having as it bangs against the window, trying its hardest to get out. It has put everything into this; its life depends on making it through the window and to the outside. But little does the fly know, if it just turned around and flew across the room, which would take significantly less effort, it would find an open door and be free.
How many times are we like the fly? Thinking well, if I just try a little harder. If I just spend a few more hours. If I just push myself this little bit more. I see it, and I just need to keep going. What if we needed a slight adjustment, a minor course correction? What if we were one degree off, and if we just changed slightly, everything would open up.
While we can’t get through to a fly, we can surround ourselves with people that can get through to us. The secret is to look to other people who have already had the success, already made it to where you are trying to go. Plug into them, and learn from them so they can collapse time for you. I realized I was running into the window with slow business growth no matter how hard I worked to get my name out there. There are only so many hours in the day, and I literally couldn’t work anymore or any harder. Then I found a mentor and a community of people that had figured it out. They learned to leverage their time and efforts to create substantial business growth. I am so grateful to have them in my life.
It feels like I’m now flying across the room to the open door I didn’t know was sitting there all along. Nobody told me. If you are ready to stop banging your head against the window, drop “I’m ready” in the comments. I may have just the thing to get you to that door!
